The various career opportunities available with Indian Air Force include both technical and non technical branches.
Candidates shortlisted after the initial selection procedure go through a rigorous training regimen at one of the Air Force training establishments. Therefore, they are commissioned as officers and posted at any of the air force stations
INDIAN AIR FORCE AIRMAN POST:
Candidates applying for this course should pass the entrance exam for them to be an airman. Three different groups have been mentioned
GROUP X: Except education instructor
AGE LIMIT:
Upper age limit as on date of enrolment is 21 years. Candidates born between 17 January 2000 and 30 December 2003 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
Passed intermediate/10 +2/equivalent examination with mathematics, physics, and English from an education board with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English or passed a three years diploma in engineering in any stream.
GROUP Y: Except automobile technician, Indian Air Force police, Indian Air Force security, and medical assistant
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:
Passed intermediate /10 +2/ equivalent examination in any stream/ subjects approved by central/state/ education boards listed as COBSE member with minimum 50% marks in aggregated and 50% marks in English or passed two years vocational course from education boards listed as COBSE member with minimum 50% marks in aggregated and 50% marks in English in vocational course or in intermediate/matriculation if English is not a subject in vocational course
GROUP Y: Medical assistant trade only
EDUCATION QUALIFICATION:
Passed 10 +2/ equivalent exam with physics, chemistry, biology and English from an education board listed as COBSE member with a minimum 50% marks in aggregated and 50% marks in English
MANDATORY MEDICAL STANDARDS:
Height: 152.5 cm
Chest: minimum range of expansion 5 cm
Weight: proportionate to height and age
Permanent body tattoos shall not be permitted

INDIAN AIR FORCE OFFICER JOB OPPORTUNITIES:
One can join in the Indian Air Force as an officer in the flying, technical or the ground duty branches depending on their educational qualification. These three branches of the IAF have sub streams:
Flying Branch: fighter pilots, transport pilots, helicopter pilots- one would be working as any of these pilots both during peace and war. One can get into the flying branch as a graduate( through CDS exams(men), through AFCAT exam(men & women), through NCC special entry (men). One can also get in after 10 +2 by qualifying the NDA/NA exams
Technical branch: mechanical, electronics- one would be taken care of by some of the most sophisticated equipment in the world. One can get into this branch through exam AFCAT or through University Entry Scheme.
Ground duty branch: administration, accounts, logistics, education, meteorology- as part of these mentioned departments one can be looking after and maintaining human & material resource/managing funds, work as international auditors/work as air traffic controller or fight controller. One can get into this branch by qualifying AFCAT.
